Following the demolition of the existing buildings, which date back to the 1950s and comprise 70 homes, Mobimo is to build a new residential complex providing 81 homes and a 113-space underground car park in the district below the station. The three new buildings, contemporary in style, will be set around an interior courtyard. The façades looking out onto this courtyard will include metallic screens featuring naturalistic cut-outs. The wide variety of rental properties on offer, ranging from 1.5 rooms to 5.5 rooms in size and including duplex town houses, will ensure a mix of inhabitants of all ages for this prosperous district near the M2 metro, Lausanne station and Lake Geneva. The Esplanade du Flon is a development comprising three above-ground buildings in the last remaining plot in the Flon district (in central Lausanne), located to the north of the district's main square. In view of its hub location, the uses of the future complex will be focused on the public domain, with leisure facilities and a number of restaurants planned to ensure the Esplanade is as lively by night as by day.
The main building will be home to the Conservatoire de la Haute Ecole de Musique (HEMU). Classrooms and rehearsal spaces will be located on the upper floors, and a multi-functional concert hall with a capacity of 300 will host classical and contemporary music concerts.
